Description:
This summer program is a joint effort of CNRS (France) and Ilia State University (Georgia) as part of the CAUcasian LAnguages in GEorgia network (aka CauLaGe). It has two sides: courses in the mornings, research in the afternoons. Its goals are to:

introduce students to formal methods of language description and documentation

give students hands-on onsite training in linguistic fieldwork on an understudied language

foster linguistic work on (Tsova) Tush (East Caucasian) this year

foster enduring collaborations with Georgian scholars

To this end, we have designed a program of classes which will familiarize students with (Tsova) Tush grammar and provide a brief introduction to all major subfield of linguistics in the mornings and leave enough time in the afternoons to work with speakers of (Tsova) Tush under the supervision of more senior scholars.
