Brief Description:
An ancient language of Scotland. 7th to 10th centuries AD. Attested on a number of inscriptions in northeastern Scotland. Sometimes regarded as a single Celtic language, possibly not distinct from British. Some scholars believe there were two Pictish languages, one Indo-European and one non-Indo-European. It may also be a single non-Indo-European language.
