Brief Description:
This was the language spoken by the Seljuq Turkish tribes who began settling in Anatolia in the early 11th century AD. It continued to be spoken until the 15th century AD, developing ultimately into the Turkish varieties of later years. It was written in the Arabic script, but, unlike Ottoman Turkish, the language used the short vowel diacritics (ħaraka:t) which are usually omitted in Arabic writing systems.
